Mikheil Kavelashvili: Against the backdrop of global tensions, Georgia and Armenia continue to develop political, economic, and people-to-people ties

“Georgia and Armenia have lived side by side in harmony for many centuries. The centuries-old relationship between our two countries, founded on mutual respect, trust, and unwavering friendship, has never been based solely on geographical proximity,” said Mikheil Kavelashvili during a joint briefing held together with the President of Armenia, Vahagn Khachaturyan.

As he noted, 2025 turned out to be particularly fruitful in terms of deepening relations between the two countries.

“I am pleased to host in Georgia the President of the friendly and strategic partner country, the Republic of Armenia, who is paying an official visit. As you know, this is our second meeting this year. On April 29, I paid an official visit to the Republic of Armenia. It is gratifying that 2025 has been especially productive in terms of deepening the ties between our countries. The results achieved within the framework of strategic partnership clearly demonstrated the effectiveness and scale of our cooperation.

Georgia and Armenia have lived side by side harmoniously for many centuries. The centuries-long relationship between our countries, built on mutual respect, trust, and steadfast friendship, has never been determined solely by geographical closeness. What plays an extremely important role in this process is the value-based alignment and shared vision that unite our peoples — the protection of state sovereignty, national identity, and cultural individuality is the highest priority for both Georgia and Armenia, which provides a solid foundation for even closer partnership.

The diverse cooperation between our countries is truly exemplary. Alongside active bilateral relations, Georgia and Armenia also cooperate fruitfully on multilateral platforms. In this context, the unwavering support of the Armenian state for Georgia’s territorial integrity is particularly important, and Mr. President, I would like to thank your country for this — both on my own behalf and on behalf of the Georgian people.

During the meeting, I emphasized that, given the rapidly changing geopolitical situation, maintaining peace and stability in the South Caucasus is becoming increasingly important. It should be noted that, against the backdrop of global tensions, we continue to strengthen political, economic, and people-to-people relations,” stated Mikheil Kavelashvili.
