We know for sure that the Georgian people want to return to the European path, - Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže said in response to a journalist's question before the start of the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels.
"Georgia was moving forward on the path of integration into the European Union and there were clear commitments to continue this process. Then, the current government completely changed course. Of course, we are dissatisfied with what is happening. We have repeatedly stated our position, and we have also included a significant number of Georgian officials on the list of persons declared "persona non grata", - said Baiba Braže.
When asked whether she supports the suspension of visa-free travel for certain categories of officials, Baiba Braže replied that Latvia "has supported this for a long time".
"Our position on this has not changed," - noted the Latvian Foreign Minister.
She also told reporters that at today's meeting, the foreign ministers, together with the EU Special Representative for Sanctions David O'Sullivan, will discuss what can be done regarding Russian ships and countries that help Russia evade sanctions.
