Nine citizens have been on a hunger strike in front of the parliament for the 28th day. One of the leaders of the Coalition for Change, Gedevan Popkhadze, is also continuing his hunger strike.
According to the hunger strikers, a medical tent will also be opened at the site, where doctors will be on duty to monitor the health of the protest participants 24 hours a day.
According to the hunger strikers, they feel weak, but they do not intend to end their hunger strike.
"It's been 28 days of hunger strike. There are changes in health, but we can't talk about our health condition now when the country is in such a state, the country is in the hands of executioners and some people have usurped power. No one recognizes their legitimacy. They came to oppress this country and want the country to live in slavery to Russia, but they won't succeed, because the Georgian people will not give up their independence, which they won with their blood. This government will be held accountable for the captivity of young people, prisoners of conscience, for the captivity of innocent politicians, even for imposing criminal liability for blocking the road, even for detaining people on the sidewalk.
People here are ready for anything. We call on people to stay here for as many days as they can, so that we can make this place a center of attraction, so that we take back the country that these scoundrels have misappropriated," said Darejan Tskhvitaria.
The hunger strikers will be visited by doctor Vazha Gaprindashvili today, who will learn about their health condition.
For information, Gedevan Popkhadze resorted to an extreme form of protest on October 28 and went on a hunger strike. Darejan Tskhvitaria and several other activists declared a hunger strike together with the opposition leader. Their demand is "to release political prisoners and to schedule new parliamentary elections."
