Tato Kelbakiani: A major demonstration must take place on November 28 - many are considering how the protest will continue — weekly demonstrations are possible

According to Tato Kelbakiani, Director of the organization Prevention for Progress, the protest movement must continue developing and should not remain confined to peaceful or static forms.

Speaking on PalitraNews’ program Resume, Kelbakiani noted that while the protest can continue in its current form, there is also potential for new, more mobile and “smart” approaches.

“The protest has taken various forms. Its form must constantly change. Doing the same thing repeatedly is not a panacea. We will observe the dynamics. The protest may continue in its current form, or the forms may change. There are opportunities for the protest to express itself in ways that some might not even imagine — more mobile, more intelligent. Most importantly, it must remain peaceful and within the law.

We have no other choice — we must avoid falling into their scenario, so we should not fall for provocations or go outside the peaceful framework. The main thing is that the protest continues and that the voice reaches society. One door is closed — open another; another is closed — open a third, and so on, as long as there is a range to work with.”

When asked whether marches will continue daily, Kelbakiani responded that the decision does not depend solely on him, and consultations are ongoing with participants of the protest.

However, he emphasized that part of the protest movement will remain active on a daily basis.

Kelbakiani also stressed the importance of properly distributing energy among participants, as the processes are especially intense:

“I cannot say in advance. I do not make the decisions alone; there are many people involved in this process. The decisions of the protest participants will become clear in due course. Another significant date is approaching, for which we are preparing. It is not impossible that we take a day of rest so that on November 28 many people can come out. A very large demonstration must take place. After that, how the protest continues is something many people are thinking about.

Weekly demonstrations are a possibility. This is reasonable because people can participate more easily once a week, but part of the movement will not stop and will still gather at Parliament. They know that the public will not leave Parliament until the New Year, which is why the Christmas tree was moved to Republic Square. Periodically, the idea of holding large demonstrations can be considered — once a week marches. I also sometimes feel exhausted. I work until 9:00, then I have to march for 2 hours. And we don’t have Saturdays or Sundays off here. Therefore, distributing energy is necessary so that the protest can continue", said Kelbakiani.
