Parliament adopts legislative package, in first reading, abolishing Anti-Corruption Bureau and Personal Data Protection Service

The Parliament adopted a legislative package in the first reading, according to which the Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Personal Data Protection Service will be abolished.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Personal Data Protection Service will be liquidated from March 1, 2026. The functions and powers of these two services will be transferred to the Audit Service.

In addition, from January 1, the positions of the Business Ombudsman and his deputy will be abolished, and the Business Ombudsman's office will be liquidated. The Parliament has already voted to declare the Law on the Business Ombudsman invalid.

The package of legislative amendments was submitted by the Georgian Dream faction.
