Many of you are saddened that we did not fully achieve our goal, including me. We know what provocation took place near the Atoneli Palace against our people. I cannot talk about what exactly happened today, because after my arrest I am cut off from the outside world, and therefore deprived of full information, but the time to clarify this will come soon, - Paata Burchuladze, who was detained in connection with the events that took place near the Atoneli Palace on October 4, stated at the court hearing.
According to Burchuladze, the plan was to hold a peaceful rally on Atoneli Street, in which both the assembly delegates and, most likely enforcement officers, would participate, and then we, a large number of people would demand the handover of the keys to the presidential palace, which "would undoubtedly have happened peacefully," if not for the provocation that the Georgian Dream organized.
In addition, according to Burchuladze, some sold-out or reckless politicians are trying to belittle this day, but in reality, "we have seen that we have many patriots, passionate people. Unfortunately, it turned out that we have many traitors too."
Before starting his speech, he congratulated his wife on their wedding anniversary.
"Today, November 26, 20 years have passed since our wedding, I was unable to congratulate her either in writing or by phone. So now I congratulate you, I love you very much," - Burchuladze said.
"What happened on October 4. Especially Mr. Prosecutor, listen to me.
This is the first time I have had the opportunity to speak to you after my arrest.
Dream has always been annoyed by the term "peaceful overthrow". This is the reason for our trial.
They want to christen this phrase as a violent act, and today I want to tell you, Mr. Judge, that a peaceful overthrow took place on October 4. It took place with great success, at the National Assembly held on Freedom Square and Rustaveli Avenue.
Everyone knows very well that there was no violence and that the citizens of Georgia unanimously voted against and overthrew the illegal government, the illegitimate regime of the Russian oligarch.
As for the answer to what happened in the Atoneli residence, please ask the so-called government.
Friends, have you ever thought that when we talk about October 4, the so-called government only talks about the revolution that took place near the Atoneli Palace and never once mentions what happened on Freedom Square and the entire territory of Rustaveli Avenue?
This is because of the absolute collapse of the dictatorship (Dream) at our public gathering of hundreds of thousands and they failed to make a provocation there.
No one can say that there was a call for violence. On October 4, we were all invited to the National Assembly. That was what was announced on TV and that was what was written on the invitations, which had my signature.
My career and life are public. Everyone knows my civic position, my activities, my creativity. I have served the country all my life - from the stage, through charity or public activities.
Now absurd accusations have been made against me, that I have called on people to violence. It is clear to everyone why this is being done - "Dream" is trying to declare patriotism as a crime, and their behavior - that is, treason - as heroism.
On October 4, for the first time in the history of Georgia, a National Assembly was held, thanks to the merits of our Georgian people.
This was truly a gathering where His Majesty, the Georgian people, expressed their will to protect the Constitution of Georgia.
On October 4, an unprecedented number of people, more than 250,000, were present on Rustaveli Avenue. There were representatives not only from cities and districts, but also from almost all villages of Georgia. Among them, from Abkhazia (Gali region) and Samachablo.
There were also many immigrants, they came especially for this day.
Also, the meeting was attended by representatives of all ethnic minorities living in Georgia.
Many of you were saddened that we did not fully achieve our goal, including me. Near the Atoneli Palace, we know what provocations took place against our people. I cannot talk about what exactly happened today, because after the arrest I have been cut off from the outside world, therefore deprived of full information, but the time to clarify all this will come soon.
However, we can all be proud of what we have achieved; our unity, enthusiasm and patriotism. We, the Georgian people, were able to do what the oligarchy gang could not and will not be able to do, even if they spent all seven billion dollars. Therefore, remember that after the October 4 National Assembly, we are not fighting an illegitimate government, but a gang of usurpers is fighting the people of Georgia”, he said.
According to him, the traitors must be held accountable, instead of the innocent people, the children, who are being kidnapped from the streets, from their homes, from their families.
“They themselves serve evil from the shadows - through persecution, intimidation and subjugation. It was precisely the list of these criminals that was read from the stage and for which we ended up in prison, but rest assured, these criminals will be held accountable before the law and the Georgian people.
Our plan was to hold a peaceful rally on Atoneli Street, in which both the assembly delegates and, most likely enforcement officers, would participate, and then we, a large number of people would demand the handover of the keys to the presidential palace, which would undoubtedly have happened peacefully if not for the provocation that the Dream organized against the Georgian people. As a result, a large number of innocent people have been arrested. My support for all political prisoners, their immediate release is necessary!
My speech on October 4 did not contain even a hint of violence or a call for violence. Proof of this is the fact that we were all there with our children and grandchildren. Everything we did served only and exclusively peaceful expression, which is our constitutional right.
My goal was what my goal is today - to establish democratic governance in Georgia, change the government, and return to the people the rights and powers that were stolen and taken away from the Georgian people.”
“My comrades, my Georgians, I am proud to be one of you; on November 28 and whenever necessary, on all Rustaveli;
Fight for the freedom of our country - to the end", - Burchuladze declared.
