Another 14 people detained over the events of October 4 remain in custody

Another 14 individuals detained in connection with the events of October 4 near the Atoneli Palace remain in custody.

This decision was made by Valerian Bugianishvili, a judge of the Tbilisi City Court.

At today’s hearing, the court discussed the admissibility of evidence and reviewed the preventive measures imposed on the detainees.

The prosecution requested that the strictest preventive measure — imprisonment — be upheld for all detainees.

According to prosecutor Lasha Tskvitaria, the factual and formal grounds for applying the preventive measure remain unchanged. He stated that no new circumstances exist that would justify changing the preventive measure. The prosecutor insisted that there is still a risk that the defendants may commit a new crime, go into hiding, or influence witnesses.

The defense opposed the motion. Some attorneys requested that the detainees be released without preventive measures, while others demanded their release on bail.

The defense also requested the application of alternative restrictive measures.

The judge ruled to leave the existing preventive measure — imprisonment — in force for the defendants.
