Before committing the crime, they should have thought about what illnesses they had and what their health condition was. In the videos it is clearly visible that none of them has difficulty moving, nor do they show any sign of health problems — prosecutor Roin Khintibidze said in response to the question of who will be responsible for the health condition of those who will remain in custody.
According to the prosecutor, each person detained in this case was evaluated individually, and for all of them there is video footage clearly showing that each of them participated in group violent acts.
“Today we reviewed the pretrial hearing of 15 individuals. As you know, 13 of them have been assigned imprisonment as a preventive measure, while 2 have been released on bail. The prosecution requested that imprisonment remain in force for all 13 persons, since there was a high risk of committing a new crime, which was proven by the nature of the acts they had already carried out — they attempted to seize a strategic object of special importance, the Presidential Palace. In addition, they participated in group violence, which resulted in a breakthrough, damage to various property worth tens of thousands of lari, attacks on police officers, and so on. Considering everything, the court made the only decision possible and ordered imprisonment. As for the other two individuals, as you know, based on various factors — including their health condition — they were assigned bail.
Regarding the health condition of the remaining individuals, we assessed everyone’s medical status and evaluated whether the penitentiary institution could provide the necessary health services. Based on all of this, the decisions were made accordingly.
As for the question of who will be responsible for these individuals, I want to say that penitentiary institutions have adequate conditions to provide proper care to any detained person. As for responsibility, before committing the crime, these individuals should have thought about what illnesses they had and what their health condition was. The videos clearly show that none of them has difficulty moving or shows any visible health issues. First of all, they should have taken into account their own health condition.
Each person arrested in this case and charged has been assessed individually. There is video footage for all of them clearly showing their participation in group violent acts and their attempts to enter the courtyard of the Presidential Palace and seize a strategic object. We considered the issue of preventive measures for each defendant individually — we assessed their health condition, the nature of the committed act, their age, and so on,” said Roin Khintibidze.
