National Environmental Agency - The increase in the concentration of solid dust particles in the air was caused by the spread of desert dust masses – the lack of rain, snow and wind has caused the pollution to persist

The increase in the concentration of solid dust particles in the atmospheric air was caused by the spread of desert dust masses in the country. The situation will improve as soon as the relevant meteorological processes develop, - said Marina Arabidze, Head of the Environmental Pollution Monitoring Department of the National Environmental Agency.

According to her, the National Environmental Agency is continuously monitoring the quality of atmospheric air through 18 automatic stations.

"Over the past few days, an increased concentration of particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5) in the atmospheric air has been observed again in Georgia, which is due to the spread of dust masses from the south and southeast. the lack of rain, snow and wind has caused the pollution to persist. The spread of desert dust masses in the territory of Georgia is periodically recorded throughout the year. The improvement of the situation depends on the development of relevant meteorological processes (rain, snow, wind)," said Marina Arabidze, Head of the Environmental Pollution Monitoring Department of the National Environment Agency.

According to the National Environment Agency, any interested person can get information about the state of air quality on the atmospheric air quality portal www.air.gov.ge.
