Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Imereti Police Department, solved the case of murder and shooting that occurred on Gamsakhurdia Street in Kutaisi while still “hot on the trail.”
According to the agency, K.M., born in 1978 and previously convicted, was arrested on charges of attempted premeditated murder of two or more persons under aggravating circumstances.
The Ministry reports that the crime carries a penalty of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
“According to the investigation, on the night of November 30 of this year, in the vicinity of a residential building located on Gamsakhurdia Street in Kutaisi, the accused shot three individuals multiple times with a firearm:Sh.Q., born in 1970; I.R., born in 1979; and I.G., born in 1983.After committing the crime, the offender fled the scene.
All three wounded individuals were transported to the clinic by emergency medical service workers; however, Sh.Q. died due to sustained injuries.
Law enforcement officers - as a result of continuous, intensive investigative actions carried out throughout the night - intercepted K.M. on the territory of the Sarpi border checkpoint and, following relevant investigative procedures, arrested him as a suspect.
The investigation is underway under Article 19-109, subsection "L" of the Criminal Code of Georgia, the statement reads.
