Police detained 75 individuals on drug-related charges in the last 48 hours - a particularly large amount of narcotics has been seized

In the last 48 hours, law enforcement officers have detained 75 individuals on drug-related charges. The announcement was made by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Giorgi Sakhokia, during a briefing at the ministry.

According to Sakhokia, a particularly large quantity of narcotics has been seized.

“The Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to intensively carry out strict measures defined by law against drug-related crimes.

Law enforcement officers conducted another successful police operation simultaneously in Tbilisi and the regions.

Over the past 48 hours, 75 individuals have been detained on drug-related charges - among them are both Georgian and foreign citizens. They are accused of the illegal purchase, possession, sale, and facilitation of the sale of large and particularly large quantities of narcotic and psychotropic substances.

Based on court-authorized covert investigative actions - specifically, audio and video recordings - evidence was obtained confirming that the majority of the detainees were systematically involved in the distribution of narcotics, using various methods and channels for sale.

During personal searches, vehicle and residence searches, as well as during investigative experiments conducted based on the suspects’ indications, law enforcement officers seized as evidence large quantities of various narcotic and psychotropic substances prepared for sale, including: cocaine, heroin, alpha-PVP, MDMA, methadone, Subutex, buprenorphine, pregabalin, Lyrica, and marijuana,” Sakhokia stated.
