Vakhtang Gomelauri questioned at the State Security Service

Former Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri was questioned at the State Security Service (SSS).

According to InterpressNews, Gomelauri answered the investigators’ questions this morning.

It is reported that the former Interior Minister was questioned regarding investigative materials prepared by the BBC.

For reference, the BBC prepared and published investigative material stating that during the protests in November–December 2024, the substance “Camite” was used to disperse demonstrators — a substance last deployed during World War I.

Following the report, the State Security Service launched an investigation under two charges:

  • Abuse of official powers
  • Assisting a foreign organization in hostile activities.
