Zurab Japaridze to leave Rustavi prison on December 22

Zurab “Grchi” Japaridze, one of the leaders of the “Coalition for Change,” who was convicted for failing to comply with the request of the temporary investigative commission of the Parliament of Georgia, will leave Rustavi No. 12 penitentiary on December 22.

This coincides with the completion of his 7-month prison sentence, handed down by the Tbilisi City Court based on a guilty verdict.

For context, Zurab Japaridze was arrested on May 22 in the courtroom. He had been summoned to provide explanations to the temporary investigative commission of the Parliament of Georgia, but did not appear. Following this, Japaridze was charged under Article 349 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which covers failure to comply with the request of the temporary investigative commission of the Parliament of Georgia.
