A protest rally is taking place near the Parliament against the Eagle Hills project

A protest rally is being held in front of the legislative body – participants are protesting the Eagle Hills project in Georgia.

According to the protesters, they will not allow Georgian land to be sold off.

Chants can be heard: “Georgia belongs to us.”

“Soon, this country will no longer belong to Georgians. Georgians, we have a duty before God to protect this land blessed by the Virgin Mary; we have an obligation to our ancestors to pass down our language, homeland, and faith to future generations,” say the protesters, whose rally is organized by “Alt Info.”

The participants plan to march toward the Holy Trinity Cathedral (Sameba), where they say they will conclude the rally.

For reference, according to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, under the agreement signed between one of the largest real estate developers of the United Arab Emirates, Eagle Hills, and the Government of Georgia, two unprecedentedly large-scale projects—worth more than $6.5 billion—will be carried out in Georgia.

“This is the largest foreign investment in Georgia’s history, which will transform the appearance of Tbilisi and Batumi, creating globally recognizable complexes within the cities. The projects in Tbilisi and Gonio will contribute to the growth of Georgia’s GDP, attract hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, and create thousands of jobs,” the staement reads.
