Ministry of Health: Around 150,000 people in Georgia have already been vaccinated against the flu; the situation is stable - the virus is mostly managed at home by family doctors

The A/H3N2 virus is circulating in all regions of the country - other seasonal respiratory viruses have also been detected, including rhinoviruses, parainfluenza, respiratory syncytial virus, and others, the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Protection of Georgia reports.

According to the Ministry, the situation is fully under control, and the healthcare system is prepared to provide timely and quality services to the population throughout the season.

“The virus is mainly managed at home by a family doctor. The vaccine effective against this year’s flu strains is being actively used in the country, and approximately 150,000 people have already been vaccinated. The quadrivalent seasonal vaccine of French production, purchased by the Ministry of Health, is available to everyone and administered free of charge.

Flu vaccination is recommended for all population groups, but it is especially important for high-risk individuals, such as pregnant women, the elderly, children (from 6 months), people with weakened immune systems, and those with chronic illnesses.

Along with vaccination, to prevent the spread of the virus, it is important to wash hands frequently, ventilate rooms, and avoid crowded places if symptoms appear.

Based on the current epidemiological assessment, the situation is fully managed, and the healthcare system is prepared to provide the population with timely and high-quality services throughout the season,” the statement reads.
