Nino Tsilosani: At the EU Foreign Ministers’ meeting, we will hear many lies about Georgia – Brussels should have far greater concerns than criticizing and disparaging a successful Georgia
“At the EU Foreign Ministers’ meeting, we will hear many lies and disinformation regarding Georgia—this meeting will be used as an instrument to target Georgia,” Nino Tsilosani, Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, told journalists.
She stated that “the European Union and its official representatives should have far greater concerns than criticizing and disparaging a successful Georgia.”
“We see statements from the U.S. President and other high-ranking officials about the unfortunate regression the EU is experiencing. The bureaucracy serves not the European people or the member states, but entirely different purposes. Therefore, at the EU Foreign Ministers’ meeting, we will hear many lies and disinformation about Georgia. If these people were genuinely interested in whether freedom of speech exists or how democracy functions, they should refer to objective studies and ratings conducted by their own institutions, which would likely make their statements more reliable. In this case, this meeting will again be used to strike against Georgia, and it is probably clear to everyone why Georgia is being targeted,” Tsilosani said.
For context, the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting is being held in Brussels today, chaired by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
