Romanian Foreign Minister: We continue strategic partnership with Georgia, believe in the country’s European future – and it is true that today, the people are fighting more for this future than the government

“Romania was the first EU country to establish a strategic partnership with Georgia, and we continue this partnership because we believe in Georgia’s European future,” Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Țoiu said in response to a question from Euroscope about Georgia, before the EU Foreign Ministers’ meeting.

“It is also true that, at this moment, the people of Georgia are fighting more and contributing more to the country’s European future than the institutions, political bodies, or central government. We consider this a sign of the resilience of Georgian society, and it is a fact that dialogue must continue and investments must be anchored along Georgia’s European path,” the minister noted.

She added that they are concerned about the developments taking place in this important country in the region.

“We need to cooperate more and stand together when discussing Black Sea issues. Clearly, in this sense, we are concerned about the events currently unfolding in Georgia,” the Romanian Foreign Minister said.
