The date related to the restoration of suspended driving rights is changing – a driver’s license will be returned to individuals who committed the offense by December 16, 2025

The date related to the restoration of suspended driving rights is being changed. The draft law, which Parliament will adopt today in the second and third readings, stipulates that a driver’s license will be returned to a person who committed the relevant offense by December 16, 2025.

Previously, this date was set as December 10. Accordingly, driver’s licenses will be returned to those whose licenses were revoked up to and including yesterday. Revoked driver’s licenses will be returned gradually starting from January 1, 2026.

The decision to change the date was made at a session of the Legal Affairs Committee.

In addition to the return of suspended driver’s licenses, the main novelty of the planned amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses is the abolition of the possibility of early restoration of driving rights and the early return of a driver’s license.

The possibility of early restoration of driving rights will no longer be available to persons who commit the following administrative offenses: refusal to undergo testing to determine whether a driver is under the influence of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, or new psychoactive substances while driving; driving a vehicle while intoxicated by alcohol and other specific administrative offenses related to driving; leaving the scene of a traffic accident or failing to comply with a police officer’s request to stop a vehicle.
