“You shouldn’t stand like Rodin, with that stern face, using the parliamentary podium holding a ‘paste’ in your hand. You should bow your head together with your team and apologize to the public for what you did under your leader’s direction on Rustaveli Avenue, in front of Parliament,” said Georgian Dream MP Irma Zavradasvhili to For Georgia faction MP Giga Parulava during an extraordinary parliamentary session. Parulava had introduced an initiative to create a temporary investigative commission to study the legality of law enforcement’s dispersal of demonstrations and the use of special means during the November–December 2024 protests.
Zavradasvhili claimed that the initiators are fully aware that the commission has little chance of actually being established, but are staging this “cord ballet” for the benefit of the “Gakharia society.”
“I don’t know for which society you staged this cord ballet; probably for the ‘Gakharia society,’ but I want to say that I expected more from you than what you did. You should bow your head like a proper gesture, not pose like Rodin, and not just use the podium with a paste in your hand. You should apologize to the public for what you did under your leader’s direction on Rustaveli Avenue in front of Parliament. And it’s not only us holding you accountable - the international courts have also found you culpable. It’s simply embarrassing. You stage the scenes yourself, you ask the questions yourself, and you create ambiguity about these issues. You know very well what a parliamentary investigative commission is for. You also know that this commission you have initiated practically has no chance of existing, but you are still performing this for the progressive society. Apologize! In another manner, with another expression, apologize to the rest of Georgian society for what you did,” Zavradasvhili said.
