Parliament approves legislative package abolishing Anti-Corruption Bureau and Personal Data Protection Service

The Parliament approved in the third reading a legislative package that will abolish the Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Personal Data Protection Service.

The decision was passed with 78 votes in favor and 1 against.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Personal Data Protection Service will be liquidated as of March 2, 2026. The functions and authorities of both agencies will be transferred to the Audit Office.

Additionally, as of January 1, the positions of the Business Ombudsman and their deputy will also be abolished, and the Business Ombudsman’s office will be liquidated. The Parliament has already supported the repeal of the “Law on the Business Ombudsman.”

The legislative package was introduced by the parliamentary faction of “Georgian Dream.”
