“You accuse the Georgian government of acting wrongly while it is trying to protect the constitutional order and resist all attempts at destabilization, both from Russia and from Europe,” said Member of the European Parliament Thierry Mariani during his address to the European Parliament.
“For several months now, Georgia has been under unprecedented media pressure from European institutions. These attacks call into question the legitimacy of the sovereign choice made by Tbilisi’s institutions, the judiciary, and the Georgian electorate. This constitutes interference by foreign non-governmental organizations, and their concerns are being amplified by the European Parliament,” Mariani said.
According to him, Brussels “dreams of overthrowing the Georgian government.”
“You accuse the Georgian government of acting wrongly while it is trying to protect the constitutional order and resist all attempts at destabilization, both from Russia and from Europe. Ultimately, if you want to find those who are trying to deepen the democratic crisis, then the culprits should be sought in Brussels,” the MEP stated.
