Gitanas Nauseda - It is unfortunate that Georgia is not getting closer to the European Union, but moving away

It is unfortunate that Georgia is not getting closer to the European Union, but moving away, - Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda in Brussels said before the start of the European Council summit.

"Unfortunately, what is happening in Georgia is not in line with the European understanding of democracy or democratic rules. I am worried about the recent developments in Georgia, because, despite the fact that Georgia is far from Lithuania, we have very close ties, we have historical and traditional ties. Until they realize that the rules of democracy, human rights and the rule of law must be respected, I think the situation will be difficult," - said Nauseda.
