The United States has imposed sanctions on Georgian judge of the International Criminal Court Gocha Lordkipanidze

The United States has imposed sanctions on Georgian judge of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Gocha Lordkipanidze.

The announcement was made by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

In addition to Lordkipanidze, Mongolian ICC judge Erdenebalsuren Damdin was also sanctioned.

“These individuals are directly involved in the International Criminal Court’s efforts to investigate, arrest, detain, or prosecute Israeli citizens without Israel’s consent…

The International Criminal Court continues its politicized actions against Israel, creating a dangerous precedent for all countries…

Our message to the Court is clear: the United States and Israel are not signatories to the Rome Statute and therefore reject the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court,” Rubio said.

Gocha Lordkipanidze served as Georgia’s Minister of Justice from 2020 to 2021.
