Eva Shashiashvili is in a situation tantamount to torture because she has been unable to obtain information about her child’s health condition, said her lawyer, Mariam Khachapuridze, regarding the case of those detained over the events that unfolded in Tbilisi on October 4.
During the hearing, the lawyer filed a motion asking the court to request information from the medical institution about the health condition of Eva Shashiashvili’s child.
“For six months now, Eva Shashiashvili’s child has been hospitalized, and for more than three months she has not received any information about her child’s health condition. I have requested this information, however, the medical institution refuses to provide details regarding the child’s health.
I request that the court obtain information from the medical institution on what grounds the child’s hospitalization period was extended from three months to six months.
Eva Shashiashvili is in a situation tantamount to torture, as she is deprived of information about her child’s health condition,” Mariam Khachapuridze stated.
Judge Giorgi Gelashvili did not grant the motion.
At this stage of the hearing, the court is examining video evidence presented by the prosecution.
