Teimuraz Papaskiri: Talks are underway about forming a certain unity; the issue has somewhat moved forward, and Zura Japaridze’s speech will likely accelerate it

Talks are underway about forming a certain unity; the issue has somewhat moved forward, and Zura’s speech will likely accelerate the process, said Teimuraz Papaskiri, a representative of the “Coalition for Change,” on PalitraNews’ program “Resume.”

According to Papaskiri, this was the voters’ demand, and now the demand is unity - therefore, this unity must be realized.

“Zura and our coalition have always been supporters of maximum unity. Today, achieving unity is much easier than a year ago, because the Gakharia factor has completely dropped out of the agenda. The public has practically already formed a unified platform. We saw this very clearly on October 4, when the vast majority of opposition - minded voters did not participate in the elections. It is clear that this was the voters’ demand, and now the demand is unity. Accordingly, this unity must be fulfilled,” Papaskiri said.

Papaskiri also stated that the manner in which Zurab ‘Girchi’ Japaridze, the leader of the “Coalition for Change,” was released from prison was disgraceful.

“It is disgraceful that they did not allow Zura to receive his jacket the day before. They said they would bring it in the morning and he would put it on. In the morning, they released him when there was not a single person around. It had been said that he would be released around 11:30. They did not allow him to make a phone call or anything. These people are Russians. You remember how, back in the day, Nika Melia was not released through the main exit but through a side exit. This is a typical example of ‘Georgian Dream’ thinking,” Papaskiri said.
