The Wounded Warrior Support Foundation presented its 2025 activities to the public

The traditional charity gala dinner was attended by the Deputy Minister of Defense, Paata Patiashvili, representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia, ambassadors and defense attachés of different countries, the NATO Liaison Officer, and representatives of various sectors of society. The very special guests were wounded warriors—military servicemen and veterans who were wounded in wars for Georgia’s territorial integrity as well as in international peace missions.

During 2025, 160 beneficiaries were supported with a total of 835,000 GEL. This amount was spent on urgent medical services as well as other essential needs of military servicemen, veterans, and their families. Of this sum, 489,000 GEL was allocated to finance the needs of 63 soldiers, while 346,000 GEL was spent to support 97 veterans. In addition to healthcare, the fund addressed education, professional re-qualification, and social adaptation.

The Wounded Warrior Support Foundation was established by Silknet in 2018, which has remained its main sponsor. Over the years, Silknet’s total donation to the fund has reached 2,381,000 GEL. Alongside Silknet, numerous companies and individuals have joined WWSF activities through their contributions. During 2025, the fund raised 744,947 GEL, including 605,403 GEL from legal entities and 139,544 GEL from individual donors.

An important milestone in the foundation’s activities was marked by the signing of a memorandum between WWSF and Leaders Academy Sabado, established on the initiative of the David Bejuashvili Educational Fund. The school serves as an informal educational hub where underage children of WWSF beneficiaries can study free of charge. It offers opportunities for education, personal development, and leadership growth. “Sabado” is a school for children with special skills, providing masterclasses and workshops in various fields, as well as opportunities to meet inspiring public figures, engage in discussions, and learn from their success stories.

Founder of WWSF and Silknet, George Ramishvili:

“This year WWSF spent 1 150 000 GEL in cooperation with the MOD, where the fund’s share is 835 000 GEL. It is especially important that a focus was made not only on issues related to medical assistance. More often we stress an accent on supporting education and professional re-skilling of our heroes, as well as their underaged children and wives, gaining new professions and establishing small ventures. We think this is an important milestone in order to improve our warriors’ everyday lives and the quality of their life.

Silknet will always continue supporting WWSF. I am proud that we are a part of this fund. I am extending my profound gratitude to our heroes for their devotion. I also want to thank all the contributors and friends of WWSF.“

General Director of Silknet and WWSF, David Mamulaishvili, presented the annual report and spoke about supporting activities and projects implemented by the foundation:

„I believe we all made our best to support wounded veterans and military servicemen in a very important and useful way. We doubled support to spouses and underaged children compared to last year. We financed courses of professional re-qualification for wounded warriors’ spouses. The aim of this activity was to help them acquire new skills and get the basic information which will allow them to start up their small enterprise in future. It’s been several years, since the British Embassy has been financing English language courses for the underage children of wounded military servicemen. More than 100 children passed these courses. Besides, the fund started cooperation with the school – Leaders Academy Sabado, established under the initiative of David Bejuashvili’s Educational Fund. I also want to use the opportunity of mentioning the support from Tbilisi Defense Attaches Association. With the Association and the Ministry of Defense of Georgia’s support it’s for the 3rd year in a row, since the charity run takes place for supporting Georgian Wounded Warriors. I thank all supporters. I think that any kind of support is essential to show respect to our heroes and take care for their complete re-integration in society“.

Guests of the WWSF charity gala dinner were also addressed by friends of the foundation from overseas. In his video message, retired U.S. Army General Wesley Clark, one of the fund’s strongest supporters since its early days, said:

“And here at the Christmas time it’s such a privilege and honor to be able to say a couple of words to you and Georgia who share our values. You know freedom is not free and men and women who served in the continental army in the United States- before it was United States in the 18th century, sacrificed a lot and it has been the case all through history. So today you gathered to recognize those who served and fought for freedom, democracy and human rights in Georgia, and I think it’s a very worthy time of the year to do it. At Christmas we should be recognizing the gifts we’ve been given and surely the gift of freedom and democracy is the greatest gift that men and women can give to their nation. So I encourage you to enjoy the evening, welcome to all of you and please remember that America stands with Georgia and all your aspirations. Thank you”.

The honorary member of the WWSF Board and Honorary Consul of Georgia in South Carolina, David Shimp, addressed the invited guests in his video message:

During this very special time of hope and reflection our thoughts turn gracefully and most gratefully to you. Because of your generosity this year seen many exceptional activities in support of Georgia’s brave soldiers and veterans, heroes all. Those with wounds that can be seen and some with such dire wounds, that can’t be seen. WWSF has provided these heroes who have sacrificed so much with needed medical treatment as well as specialized training in new life’s skills. This important training empowers them to embrace the fullest measure the self-confidence and self-respect and to get their lives back. WWSF is doing so much in so many ways that will change their lives in such a positive way forever. With an overjoyed heart for your compassionate help, I wish you all a wonderful evening and the most blessed Christmas Eve. Dzala Ertobashia “.

WWSF cooperates with the international charity organization Invictus Games Foundation. In previous years, the foundation issued grants to support Georgian wounded warriors’ sports teams. Based on co-financing, WWSF purchased seated basketball chairs for the team, while in 2025, with the second grant, the fund acquired archery equipment. The equipment was granted to wounded warriors’ teams operating under the patronage of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia and successfully participating in international warrior games.

Another long-term supporter of WWSF is the British Embassy. Within its educational program, more than 100 underage children of wounded military servicemen completed English language courses at the British Corner learning center.

Charity runs in support of Georgian wounded warriors have become a tradition, initiated by the Tbilisi Defense Attache Association (TDAA) and supported by the Ministry of Defense of Georgia. This year, the third charity run was held by TDAA, the Ministry of Defense of Georgia, and WWSF. Participation fees collected during registration were donated to the foundation to raise awareness and support its activities.

A new project was launched in 2025 to support veterans’ wives through professional re-qualification courses offered at a specially established social enterprise. Beneficiaries complete a six-month tailoring course and receive basic knowledge in small business development. The program aims to promote economic empowerment and improve the quality of life of WWSF beneficiaries.

Silknet and the Wounded Warrior Support Foundation thank all contributors for their continued support of hero warriors. Anyone can donate to the fund through the WWSF website or by dialing the charity number 0 901 777 771. The cost of one call is one Lari.

Let’s unite for our heroes!
