Elections for the position of Chairperson of the Georgian Young Lawyers Association have been held. The organization's board of directors has elected Tamar Oniani as Chairperson of the GYLA.
Nona Kurdovanidze headed the organization for three years, her term of office has expired.
“Tamar Oniani has been the Director of the Human Rights Program of GYLA since 2023, and the Deputy Chairperson and member of the Board since 2022. Since 2025, Tamar Oniani has been studying at the University of Oxford for a fully funded Master of Science in International Human Rights Law. At the same time, she is a visiting lecturer at several universities.
Tamar has been leading the International Litigation Team at GYLA since 2021. In 2018 she started working at GYLA as a Strategic Litigation Lawyer. Tamar conducted/led strategic legal disputes at the European Court of Human Rights, which concerned freedom of assembly and expression, the prohibition of torture, human rights violations in occupied territories and border regions, etc.
Nona Kurdovanidze has been heading the organization for three years. She has completed her term of office, and in accordance with the GYLA statutes, she no longer has the right to participate in the next election. GYLA thanks Nona Kurdovanidze for her worthy work during a challenging period," reads the information.
