According to lawyer, several real estate properties of Grigol Liluashvili are under seizure, including his apartment

According to lawyer Robert Grigalashvili, several real estate properties of former head of the State Security Service, Grigol Liluashvili, have been seized. He made this statement after visiting the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia.

As the lawyer explains, several real estate properties in Liluashvili's name, including an apartment registered in his name, were seized approximately 2 months ago.

According to the lawyer, as a preventive measure, "Liluashvili's expensive property has been seized and it is legally impossible to bail it out."

“The immovable property, the apartment registered in his name, is under seizure. This seizure was imposed when the investigation was launched. I know that real estate is under seizure. I am not familiar with the exact materials, but about two months ago [they were seized]. The list is not very long. You can look at his property declaration and it will appear there. There are several immovable properties, in Tbilisi, where he lived, and the rest is nothing special. I do not remember anything else special. Liluashvili’s expensive property is seized and it is legally impossible to bail it out,” the lawyer told TV Pirveli.

According to the lawyer, the defendant’s position is that the court should leave him without a preventive measure.

“The procedure provides that I must request to leave him without a preventive measure. When a person does not admit guilt, he does not agree to any preventive measure. However, there is a practice when other non-custodial preventive measures are imposed as an alternative, including bail. We will discuss this issue, we will agree. [The amount] I have not established now, but of course we will discuss this as an alternative and I will agree with the family and announce it at the trial accordingly,” the lawyer said.

In addition, in response to a relevant question, the lawyer noted: “It is only an assumption that there may be a threat that Liluashvili will put pressure on someone.”

For information, Grigol Liluashvili, the former head of the State Security Service, who came to the prosecutor's office for questioning, was arrested yesterday. He is charged under Article 338, Part 2, Subparagraph “c” and Part 3, Subparagraph “e” of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which involves taking a bribe in a particularly large amount by a group by prior agreement and provides for a sentence of 11 to 15 years of imprisonment.
