Current electricity tariff to be maintained for the next three months

The issue of electricity tariffs has been postponed for three months, meaning the current tariff will remain unchanged during this period.

As the Chair of the Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission, Davit Narmania, stated at today’s commission session, the request to postpone the process for three months came from electricity distribution companies.

“Over the past few days, the commission has been working intensively on tariff-related issues and clarifying certain aspects. In addition, we held consultations with the Prime Minister of Georgia. Electricity distribution companies submitted a request to postpone this process for three months. Since electricity balances are not yet finalized and it is unclear what generation levels can be expected next year, the commission will discuss the matter today and we believe temporary tariffs should be set. This means maintaining the current tariffs in the electricity sector for the next three months.

As for natural gas, no tariff increase was expected there anyway. I have already stated that only minor adjustments were being made in this area. Therefore, we expect that consumer tariffs will not increase in either electricity or natural gas and will remain unchanged,” said Davit Narmania.

For reference, at present, Tbilisi residents who consume between 0 and 101 kilowatt-hours of electricity per month pay 15.041 tetri per kilowatt-hour.
