The lawyer of the family of murdered businessman Levan Jangveladze says it has been confirmed that the killing was a contract murder and that it had an organizer.
Speaking to InterpressNews, the family’s lawyer Tariel Kakabadze commented on the fact that former Chief Prosecutor Otar Partskhaladze will be charged in connection with Jangveladze’s murder.
According to the lawyer, it has now been confirmed that the murder was ordered and organized by a person who had serious conflicts and confrontations with Levan Jangveladze.
Kakabadze stated that during the investigation period, Partskhaladze was “not even summoned for questioning.”
In his assessment, for several months “what was taking place was not an investigation, but a cover-up of the case.”
“First of all, I want to state that intensive investigative actions have indeed been carried out. Among them were investigative actions that, for some reason, had not been conducted before. I have repeatedly said that for several months what was happening was not an investigation, but a cover-up of the case. We were saying that this was a contract killing. The murder had an organizer, executors, and several individuals were involved in committing this crime. With today’s decision, it has been confirmed that this murder was indeed ordered and that it had an organizer - a person who had serious disagreements and confrontations with Levan Jangveladze.
As for Otar Partskhaladze, up until now we - personally, I - have repeatedly criticized the Prosecutor’s Office for the fact that they did not even summon him for questioning. There was not even a record of his interrogation in the case files for all this time, despite the fact that a great deal of evidence pointed to his alleged involvement in this crime.
With today’s decision, the suspicions and assumptions we had been talking about have truly been confirmed. They have been justified, and we were providing the public with accurate information throughout this entire period.
The briefing [at the Ministry of Internal Affairs] ended just a few minutes ago. I have not yet had communication with the family, but I repeat once again that all my statements are, of course, coordinated with the person whose interests I represent.
According to my information, this individual is currently in Russia, which, of course, complicates his arrest, but we will see how events develop. I do not rule anything out,” said Tariel Kakabadze.
For reference, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, former Chief Prosecutor Otar Partskhaladze will be charged in the case of Levan Jangveladze’s murder.
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Darakhvelidze stated at a briefing that the Jangveladze murder case has been fully solved. According to him, under the relevant prosecutorial decision, Partskhaladze is charged with organizing the intentional murder of Levan Jangveladze for hire and for financial gain, and a search warrant will be issued for him.
