Two individuals remanded in custody in a case involving the rape of a minor

The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has brought charges against two individuals in connection with the rape of a minor, according to information released by the Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the agency, an investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that the accused raped a minor who was in a helpless condition.

Law enforcement officers arrested the suspects on December 27.

“One of the detainees has been charged under Article 137, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (rape), which предусматриes a penalty of up to 8 years of imprisonment. The second detainee has been charged under Article 137, Part 4, subparagraph ‘g’ of the Criminal Code of Georgia (rape of a minor with prior knowledge), which carries a penalty of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.

The accused have already been remanded in custody as a preventive measure,” the statement says.
