The charges brought against Otar Partskhaladze are unfounded and lack any basis in legal reality. The defense fully rejects the version presented by the prosecution and states that it will not withstand the standards of a fair court hearing, said Gagi Mosashvili, the lawyer of former Prosecutor General Otar Romanov Partskhaladze.
According to him, “after reviewing the case materials, conducting a detailed analysis of the evidence, and under the conditions of an independent and impartial court, the truth will inevitably be revealed, and all unfounded accusations by the prosecution will receive a legally appropriate response.”
“On December 29, 2025, a resolution on bringing charges against my client, Otar Partskhaladze, was officially served; however, to this day the defense has not been provided with the case materials, without which it is impossible to conduct a full, objective, and legal assessment of the substance of the charges.
In this regard, I consider it necessary to state clearly and unequivocally: first of all, we categorically reject any attempt to place this case in a political context. A legal process cannot and must not be used as an instrument for a political agenda or for manipulating public opinion.
Second, and fundamentally important, the charges brought against Otar Partskhaladze are unfounded and devoid of legal reality. The defense fully rejects the version presented by the prosecution and declares that it will not withstand the standards of a fair trial.
The defense is confident that, upon reviewing the case materials, conducting a detailed analysis of the evidence, and under the conditions of an independent and impartial court, the truth will inevitably come to light, and all unfounded accusations by the prosecution will receive a legally correct response.
The defense will use all means provided by law to ensure an objective consideration of the case and the full protection of my client’s rights,” Gagi Mosashvili stated.
For reference, former Chief Prosecutor Otar Partskhaladze has been charged in the case concerning the murder of Levan Jangveladze. The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, spoke about this at a briefing, stating that the Jangveladze murder case has been fully solved.
