National Environment Agency: From the afternoon of December 31 through January 3, intermittent precipitation is expected across Georgia, locally heavy, mostly in the form of snow

According to the National Environment Agency, from the afternoon of December 31 until January 3, intermittent precipitation is again expected in Georgia, with heavy snowfall in some areas.

The agency also warns of possible strengthening winds, fog in mountainous regions, snowstorms, icy road conditions, and avalanche danger. On January 1–2, stormy conditions at sea are possible, with waves reaching 3–4 on the Beaufort scale.

“Due to heavy snowfall, snowstorms, reduced visibility, icy roads, and avalanche danger, traffic may be restricted on certain sections of highways. The expected precipitation may cause water levels in rivers to rise, while in hilly and mountainous areas it may trigger or intensify landslide and mudflow processes (hazard level: moderate),” the statement said.
