The Interests Section of the Russian Federation at the Swiss Embassy in Tbilisi is urging Russian citizens to “carefully weigh possible risks” before visiting Georgia.
According to a statement from the Russian Federation’s Interests Section at the Swiss Embassy in Georgia, there has recently been an increase in cases where Russian citizens are denied entry to Georgia if their passports list their place of birth as the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, the Abkhaz Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, South Ossetia, Crimea, the Donetsk People’s Republic, the Luhansk People’s Republic, or the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.
“In the current situation, where the actions of Georgian border authorities introduce an element of uncertainty into the travel plans of Russian citizens wishing to vacation in Georgia, we strongly advise our citizens planning to travel there to carefully consider all circumstances and potential risks,” the statement said.
