"It is worth noting the completion of the 52-kilometer Rikoti Pass section, a project of the century, which was opened by the Prime Minister. This is a strategically important project for our country and will contribute to economic development and the further strengthening of the country’s transit function,” said Minister of Infrastructure Revaz Sokhadze.
The minister spoke about major projects implemented this year and noted that a number of large-scale projects are also planned for next year.
“This year, the Surami bypass road and an 8-kilometer section in Guria were opened, and many new projects will begin next year as well. A tender has already been announced for Lot No. 2 of the Tbilisi bypass road, which covers the section from Tsitsamuri to Avchala.
Also very important are the institutional changes implemented within the Ministry of Infrastructure, the approaches we have changed, and the new standards we have established. In terms of design, we have taken very serious steps, and design work has begun in many strategic areas for our country, such as schools, kindergartens, and sports infrastructure. Based on these projects, we will begin construction works next year, which will further improve our country’s infrastructure in all directions. It is also important to note the steps taken regarding quality, pricing, and the introduction of new European standards, which we worked on actively throughout the year and whose implementation in construction will begin next year,” Revaz Sokhadze stated.
