Police detain Turkish citizen in Batumi on charges of attempted murder

Police in Batumi have detained a citizen of Turkey on charges of attempted intentional murder, according to information released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

As stated in the report, following an argument, the suspect inflicted stab wounds on a Turkish citizen using a cold weapon and fled the scene.

“Officers of the Adjara Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained H.K., a citizen of the Republic of Turkey born in 1988, on charges of attempted intentional murder.

The investigation established that in Batumi, during a dispute that began on domestic grounds, the suspect injured an acquaintance - a Turkish citizen, B.S., born in 1984 - by inflicting stab wounds with a cold weapon and then fled the scene.

The injured man was taken to a medical facility.

As a result of investigative actions, police arrested H.K. as a suspect.

The weapon used in the crime - a knife - has been seized as evidence.

The investigation is being conducted under Articles 19 and 108 of the Criminal Code, which carry a penalty of up to 15 years’ imprisonment,” the statement said.
