Geostat: GDP growth reaches 7.2% compared to previous year — Decline recorded in construction and energy sectors

According to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat), compared to the same period of the previous year, real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 7.2%. The agency also reports that a downward trend was observed in the construction and energy sectors.

“Geostat produces monthly preliminary estimates of economic growth, calculated on the basis of administrative statistics (turnover of VAT-paying enterprises, fiscal and monetary data). These estimates represent internationally accepted practice and are used to obtain short-term, preliminary operational data. In sectors where monthly data are not available (for example, agriculture and the size of the non-observed economy), estimates are based on data from previous periods. In addition, monthly adjustments to the turnover of VAT-paying enterprises for previous months may occur, which consequently leads to revisions of the monthly preliminary estimates of real growth.

According to preliminary estimates, in November 2025, real GDP increased by 7.2% compared to the same period of the previous year, while the average growth rate for the first eleven months of 2025 was 7.5%. In November 2025, compared to the same period of the previous year, significant contributions to growth came from the following sectors: transportation and storage, manufacturing, real estate activities, financial and insurance activities, and mining.

A declining trend was recorded in the construction and energy sectors,” the statement said.
