According to Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Alexander Darakhvelidze, over the past seven months, more than 5,000 people have been prosecuted for drug-related crimes.
The Deputy Minister summarized the ministry’s work in combating drugs during a briefing.
“We continue the fight against drug-related crime intensively, 24 hours a day.
We pay great attention to identifying drug dealers and prosecuting them with the full force of the law.
In just the last seven months, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has intercepted dozens of cases of drug smuggling into the country and seized several hundred kilograms of narcotics. In total, over 5,000 people have been arrested and prosecuted for drug offenses, including nearly 2,000 individuals involved in drug trafficking,” Darakhvelidze stated.
