Alongside ensuring high economic growth, the main priorities for 2026 remain creating new jobs, reducing poverty, and improving the well-being of the population, stated Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development.
In reviewing 2025 results, the ministry highlighted a historic investment of USD 6.6 billion, dedicated to the largest development projects in Tbilisi and Gonio. This investment will create an additional 24,000 jobs and generate over USD 700 million annually in budget revenue, which, according to the minister, directly impacts the well-being of every citizen.
Kvrivishvili also noted the completion of the Georgia Railway modernization project at the end of this year. With an investment of GEL 1 billion, the modernization doubles the capacity of Georgia’s railway, strengthening the country’s transit and logistics functions.
“It is particularly encouraging that we recorded historic results in tourism and aviation. Notably, the country earned USD 3.7 billion from the hospitality sector alone. Passenger traffic also reached record levels across all three international airports, which reflects the government’s effective policies to promote Georgia internationally, secure new direct flights, and attract new international airlines into Georgia’s airspace,” Kvrivishvili said.
Looking ahead to 2026, the Minister expressed very positive expectations:
“Our ambition is for 2026 to be even better than 2025. Alongside sustaining high economic growth, the main priorities remain job creation, poverty reduction, and improving citizens’ well-being. Additionally, we will launch and continue several historic projects, including completing the strategically important Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, moving the Anaklia Deep Sea Port into an active construction phase, and placing significant emphasis on further developing the country’s energy sector, building on several major initiatives implemented this year to strengthen the sector,” said Mariam Kvrivishvili.
