Kakha Kaladze: 2025 was full of challenges and difficulties, but it delivered a better, greener Tbilisi with improved infrastructure and more rehabilitated streets - 2026 will be even more interesting

The year 2025 has come to an end. It was full of challenges and difficulties, but the most important thing is that it left us with a much better Tbilisi - a greener city, with improved infrastructure, more rehabilitated streets, and renovated squares and parks, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said in his New Year address.

He congratulated residents on the upcoming Christmas and New Year and wished them prosperity.

As Kaladze noted in a video message shared on social media, 2025 was a challenging year, but many important projects were implemented throughout the year.

“Today is December 31. The year 2025 has come to an end - a year full of challenges and difficulties - but the main thing is that it has left us with a much better Tbilisi: a greener city, improved infrastructure, more rehabilitated streets, renovated squares and gardens, and greater support and solidarity with our fellow citizens. Tbilisi is rightfully proud of its history, culture, and distinctive architecture, but its greatest charm and value are the people who live here - the people who shape the reality of our city. Therefore, every project, every reform, and every decision we have implemented serves the well-being of Tbilisi residents and the creation of a dignified living environment for them,” Kaladze said.

According to the mayor, 2026 will be even more interesting, as the municipal government has planned the implementation of a number of large-scale projects.

“The work carried out by the municipality this year gives us a solid foundation to confidently say that 2026 will be far more successful for Tbilisi. We have spoken extensively about the projects already implemented, but despite all this, many challenges remain. We are ready to serve Tbilisi tirelessly, 24 hours a day. The year 2026 will be even more exciting for our capital. We have planned the implementation of quite large-scale projects, which we will present to the public step by step,” Kaladze noted.

The mayor also once again thanked the public for their trust and support.

“I would like to express special gratitude to you, the people of Tbilisi, who entrusted us with the fate of this city and have strengthened us with your support for years. Thank you for your patience during the inconvenience caused by ongoing infrastructure projects. Every positive change implemented for the benefit of the capital is the result of your involvement and support. Together with you, we are creating a city where life is better - a city filled with kindness, which has been developing for centuries through people’s solidarity, hard work, and the struggle for a better future. Happy New Year. I wish more goodness to enter your families - your strength is the strength of our country. I wish you peace and prosperity,” Kaladze said.
