Kakha Kaladze: The New Year’s gala concert will be held in a television format – this is how a responsible government acts, seeking to protect people from bullying and insults

The New Year’s gala concert will be held in a television format and viewers will be able to watch it tonight, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said in a video address shared on social media.

According to him, the gala concert is, on the one hand, a gift to the public, and on the other hand, a form of support for Georgian musicians.

“This year, the New Year’s gala concert will be broadcast in a television format, and viewers will see it tonight. On the one hand, the concert is a gift for the population; on the other hand, it is support and assistance for Georgian musicians and singers. I think it is unnecessary to further explain why it is being held in a television format. During these festive moments, I will not burden you with difficult topics and will say only one thing: this is how a responsible government behaves - one that tries to protect people from bullying and insults, which we have seen many times, including directed at musicians,” Kaladze stated.

The mayor also noted that on New Year’s Eve, the operating hours of public transportation will be extended. Both the metro and buses will serve passengers free of charge from 00:00 to 03:00 on January 1.

In addition, the Rike–Narikala cable car will also operate on an extended schedule.
