Eva Shashiashvili, who was detained in connection with the events that took place near the Atoneli Palace on October 4, has had her pretrial detention replaced with a non-custodial bail of GEL 5,000.
Shashiashvili will leave the Rustavi Women’s Penitentiary Facility later today.
The decision was made by Tbilisi City Court Judge Giorgi Gelashvili. Shashiashvili attended the hearing remotely from the Rustavi penitentiary facility.
The prosecution filed a motion to replace her detention with bail after the defense submitted additional medical documentation regarding the defendant’s health condition.
According to defense lawyer Mariam Khachapuridze, Shashiashvili’s health deteriorated while in detention, which necessitated replacing imprisonment with a more lenient preventive measure.
Prosecutor Roin Khintibidze stated that, taking into account the health conditions of both the defendant and her child, as well as the fact that Shashiashvili admitted guilt and acknowledged the evidence without dispute, the prosecution agreed to her release on bail.
At today’s court hearing, the defense accepted all evidence presented by the prosecution without contest.
