The Ministry of Internal Affairs detained an Israeli citizen visiting Georgia as a tourist who, according to the investigation, fired an acoustic weapon several times while driving through the tunnel near Heroes’ Square on December 29.
According to the ministry, he was fined 4,000 GEL, deported from the country, and banned from entering Georgia for a period of three years.
“As a result of a joint operation carried out by the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Tbilisi Police Department, an Israeli citizen born in 2005, identified as M.N., was detained on the basis of the Law of Georgia ‘On the Legal Status of Aliens and Stateless Persons.’
The evidence obtained by law enforcement confirms that the Israeli citizen, who was in Georgia as a tourist, fired several shots from an acoustic weapon while driving through the tunnel near Heroes’ Square on December 29, 2025. Officers of the Tbilisi Police Department seized the acoustic weapon as material evidence.
For this action, by a ruling of the Tbilisi City Court dated December 30, 2025, the detained individual was found guilty of an administrative offense under Article 173 of the Administrative Offenses Code. As a penalty, the Tbilisi City Court imposed an administrative fine of 4,000 GEL, ordered his deportation from the country, and banned him from entering Georgia for a period of three years.
It should be noted that, in accordance with amendments to the Law ‘On the Legal Status of Aliens and Stateless Persons,’ the mechanisms for deporting foreign citizens staying in Georgia both illegally and legally have been improved, which, where appropriate legal grounds exist, provides a legal basis for their expulsion from the country. Employees of the Migration Department carried out the deportation of the individual from Georgia. He was banned from entering the country for the period stipulated by law,” the statement reads.
