Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have detained a Ukrainian citizen in connection with a stabbing incident in Tbilisi.
The information was released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the MIA, the suspect stabbed one person with a cold weapon on January 7 following a verbal altercation and then fled the scene.
“Employees of the Old Tbilisi Main Division of the Tbilisi Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained a Ukrainian citizen, V.R. (born in 1995), on charges of intentional less serious bodily harm.
The investigation established that on January 7 of this year, in Tbilisi, following a verbal dispute, the accused stabbed A.R. (born in 2003) with a cold weapon and then fled the scene.
The injured young man has been admitted to a clinic to receive appropriate medical care.
As a result of operational measures and investigative actions carried out by law enforcement officers, the suspect was detained on the spot. The weapon used in the crime – a knife – has been seized as material evidence.
The investigation is being conducted under Article 118 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for up to two years of imprisonment,” the statement says.
