Ministry of Internal Affairs arrests 4 people on charges of group attack on police officer

The officers of the Chiatura District Division of the Imereti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested 4 individuals on charges of assaulting a police officer in connection with his official duties. The persons arrested are: S.I., born in 2008, G.Sh., born in 1999, A.M., born in 2000, and M.Sh., born in 1994.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the investigation conducted by law enforcement officers revealed that the defendants had a verbal confrontation with a patrol inspector of the Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in connection with his official duties, after which they attacked him in a group and physically assaulted him.

According to the agency, as a result of the attack, the patrol inspector received injuries to various parts of his body, and the defendants fled the scene.

"As a result of the operational measures and investigative actions taken in the case, the police arrested all four persons shortly after the crime was committed.

The investigation is underway under Article 353 of the Criminal Code, which provides for imprisonment for a term of up to 8 years," reads the information.
