It is a matter of lack of dignity and self-respect when the political leader of an independent state says that she would gladly give up sovereignty in order to become a member of the European Union - this shows from beginning to end the extremely difficult and deplorable situation into which the "deep state" has put a person who is currently the president of this country, - the chairman of the parliamentary procedural issues committee stated when assessing the statement of the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, that in the event of a referendum, she would "vote" for unification with Romania.

In his assessment, this is a deficit of national identity.

"The second problem is the lack of dignity and self-respect, when the political leader of an independent state says that she would gladly give up sovereignty in order to become a member of the European Union - this shows from beginning to end the extremely difficult and miserable situation that the "deep state" has put a person into, who is today the president of this country by status. How can you imagine when the president of an independent country says that I do not want to be the leader of an independent country but the head of a vassal province, if only the will of the "deep state" is carried out. This is the path that no one will ever be able to impose on us and our society, a nation that has been defending its identity and nationality with its teeth for 3,000 years,” said Davit Matikashvili.

For information, Moldovan President Maia Sandu said in an interview with the British podcast Rest Is Politics that she “would vote for unification with Romania in the event of a referendum.”

Sandu said she understands well that the majority of Moldovans do not share her position.
