Former Tbilisi Vice Mayor Irakli Khmaladze denies media reports that he has left the country and that investigative agencies are investigating his activities.

As Khmaladze writes on his Facebook page, he "claims with full responsibility that he has served conscientiously and has never violated the law."

Irakli Khmaladze does not rule out that questions may arise regarding him, since he has worked at the Tbilisi City Hall for more than seven years and "many decisions are associated with" his name, adding that there will be nothing surprising in this, therefore, he will answer all questions.

"8 months after leaving the post of Tbilisi Vice-Mayor, this time, as a free citizen, I will respond to the false and slanderous story about me that was broadcast on TV Pirveli, I don't know how many times. I remember well that every time something kept me from publicly expressing my dissatisfaction with false accusations, and probably it is true that when you hold a high position, you have to tolerate more, but when all this is in the past, you are a free person and no longer have power, a person should be a little more protected from such attacks that TV Pirveli periodically makes against me, my family members and close people. For 6 years now I have been hearing from you and your people that I was summoned, interrogated, detained, then released... Every time a lie... every time... You have to end it somewhere, right? I have never been summoned in my life and even more so interrogated, but you have told these lies to the whole country. Yes, it is a lie, but it damages a person and his reputation. Earlier I was an official and I did not care about it, I did my job, but now? I am no longer an official. "I left the country for fear of being arrested"... How did you make up this? Why should I leave or why should I be arrested?! I left Tbilisi City Hall eight months ago... I do not exclude and I will not be surprised if questions arise about me, since I have served in Tbilisi City Hall for more than seven years and many decisions are connected to my name. There will be nothing surprising in this and with great respect to law enforcement agencies, I will answer all questions. Recently, I had to travel to several countries and the reason for this is only to do my job. This is already my personal business, I meet my friends, acquaintances and try to do my job, which is obviously logical. This is my business and in no way yours. I have the right to do it and I will do it. And you must stop persecuting me!!! I did not answer your calls and I do not want to, because you are not a media outlet, you are a group of evil people who are only thirsty for blood. Your goal is not healthy or legitimate in any sense... There is neither law nor morality for you. Nothing will stop you from plunging into a person's life and making his personal or private life public, and that too in a distorted way, portraying a person as unworthy, immoral, evil and corrupt. In such a big story, where you twisted every word in every direction, I wrote one short written message to you and did not cover it!!! Because it well described your behavior towards me and my family. That is why I have no desire to talk to you and I will never have one. You have not even spoken to a person and will never try to convey information correctly to the public. The competent law enforcement agency has confirmed to you that I am not exposed in any case, but no, you continue to pretend to be an expert. You create a false feeling in the society, among my acquaintances and relatives.

By starting to work at the Tbilisi City Hall, I took on great responsibilities towards the capital, the population, and my team. I will always say with pride that I served conscientiously and did a lot of work. I am glad that I was given this opportunity, I appreciated it. The population of the capital will long enjoy the benefits that were created with my direct involvement and decisions, and I am proud of it. I have always considered this to be the most important part of my life, because during this time I was able to create the most good for the population. My corruption is a lie, although a logical fantasy. I was aware from the very beginning that I would receive these accusations. Unfortunately, the country still remembers the facts of abuse of power and there is nothing surprising in this, but I declare with full responsibility that I have served conscientiously and I have never broken the law. I had a lot of work, I had to make many important decisions every day, which sometimes had an offended side. They said a lot of bad things about me, but this never bothered me. I had ideas for the city and I realized them. It was a great pleasure and still makes me happy when I see the fruits of my and my teammates' work”, Khmaladze said.
