[Mzia has no any information about the pardon] and has no expectations, - Malkhaz Amaglobeli, brother of the founder of Batumelebi and Netgazeti, Mzia Amaglobeli, stated.
As he told journalists after visiting Mzia Amaglobeli, his sister feels strong.
“They didn’t say anything [about the pardon] yesterday either. She has no any information. She has no expectations. She feels strong. Just as she has no information, we don’t have any either.
She said that “we will meet in a year, when I am released”, she has no expectations until then.
In any case, we will wait. If not Mzia, another prisoner may be released," Malkhaz Amaglobeli said.
For information, Mikheil Kavelashvili pardoned 159 people on the occasion of Epiphany. There was an expectation that the pardon might apply to those detained during the protests, which is why family members, friends and relatives of the convicts came to both Rustavi and Gldani prisons, although the identities of the people pardoned by Mikheil Kavelashvili are still unknown.
For information, Mzia Amaglobeli, the founder of Batumelebi and Netgazeti, was arrested on January 11, 2025. She was sentenced to 2 years in prison on August 6. In particular, she was convicted under Article 353, Part 1 of the Criminal Code, which provides for resistance, threats or violence against a public order defender or other representative of the government. The punishment for this act is a fine, house arrest for a term of up to 2 years, and also imprisonment for a term of 2 to 6 years.
