National Food Agency withdraws certain Picot infant milk products over possible Cereulide toxin risk; importer fined

The National Food Agency of Georgia announced that several batches of Picot infant milk products, produced by the French manufacturer Lactalis Nutrition Santé (LNS), have been withdrawn from the market due to a potential risk of the Cereulide toxin, even though no health issues have been reported in any country following consumption.

The agency urged consumers who have already purchased products from the identified batches not to use them.

Inspectors from the agency’s Tbilisi department conducted an inspection of the importer, Uno Group, regarding the recall. The importer was fined for failing to provide mandatory written notifications to the agency about the recall and the measures taken.

The batches subject to withdrawal are:

  • Picot 1 400G – 8000003312

  • Picot 1 800G – 8000003297

  • Picot 2 800G – 8000003280

The recall is being carried out intensively by the business operator under the supervision of the Food Agency. The agency emphasized that the recall only concerns these specific batches and does not apply to other Picot products available on the market.

Consumers are strongly advised to avoid using the identified batches for the safety of infants.
