Protest on Rustaveli Avenue: Giorgi Vashadze joins demonstrators after release from prison

A protest is currently taking place on Rustaveli Avenue, with participants expressing their dissent on the sidewalk in front of the Parliament of Georgia.

The demonstration was joined by Giorgi Vashadze, leader of the political party Strategy Aghmashenebeli, who was released from prison today.

Protesters are carrying Georgian and European Union flags and holding placards with messages such as: “Where should you say ‘people are arrested for standing on the sidewalk’?”

Organizers stated that there will be no protest march today; the action consists of stationary demonstration on the sidewalk.

The ongoing protest in front of the Parliament has been taking place for over a year, with consistent demands: the announcement of new parliamentary elections and the release of individuals detained during previous demonstrations.
